Department Programmes/Highlights
Speech and Drama Workshops
At Peicai Secondary School, we recognise the importance of effective communication. To nurture this skill, we bring in Speech and Drama experts to train our Secondary One students, equipping them with the confidence and knowledge needed to communicate effectively. Our students learn the art of engaging their audience through both verbal and non-verbal communication. This in turns allow students to develop the necessary skills to speak confidently ensuring enunciation, articulation, and vocal projection, with the appropriate tone, pitch, and pace.
In the English classroom, they have numerous opportunities to practice and enhance these skills through engaging activities, mock debates, and class presentations.
Additionally, we identify and prepare representatives to participate in the Plain English Speaking Award organized by YMCA, further honing their public speaking abilities.

Our Secondary Two students participate in a Learning Journey to the National
Library Board, engaging in workshops and tours that enhance their information
literacy skills. This programme aligns with MOE's 21st century competencies
by fostering critical and inventive thinking as students evaluate AI-generated
content and explore ethical challenges in technology use. It supports our
English department's goals of developing critical thinkers and effective
communicators by empowering students to analyse diverse information sources,
apply the S.U.R.E. steps, and articulate their ideas in both digital and
traditional contexts. Through this experience, students cultivate the skills
necessary to navigate the complexities of the digital age, becoming more
discerning consumers and creators of information while honing their language
abilities.
